Val & Al's program, Blues For Kids (BFK) has been a big success in classrooms all over the U.S. Please read the Blues News for
upcoming dates.

Blues for Kids has been real busy spreading the Blues in the Santa Barbara Schools. This has been made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Santa Barbara Blues Society.

Blues for Kids gets everybody singing and beating out rhythms as they learn about the roots of Blues, Traditional Jazz and Gospels music. Have fun listening and exploring. Check out the new press they've received.

Valerie Johnson's New Sound Boogie Band

The New Sound Boogie Band

Any good recipe for a sunny afternoon party includes fun, live music. And that's what

you get when you mix Val and Al with Gus Thomasson , the bass player known as "Dr. Bottom." He was an original member of the POZO RIVER BOTTOM BAND.

Raeanna Thomasson aka "Blues Bongo Mama Raeanna". When she gets that beat going, you start a showin' it. She adds such tasteful rhythm it is actually the root of the new sound boogie band spirit.

Special Guest Artist, Bob Brenman began playing the clarinet when he was 8, and the sax a few years later. He led a dance band in high school, a jazz combo in college.

The Creole Syncopators serve up swingin', stompin' tunes just like they did in the 1920's. You'll feel it from your head all the way down to your feet (and everything in between).

Swing Music to Sweep You Off Your Feet!

How to have a Swingin' good time; start with Val and Al, add the "Doctor of Safe Sax," Dr. Bob Brenman, back them up with former Red Skunk Jipzee Swing Band percussionist, Kenneth Davis and top it off with upright bassist and well known West Coast accordionist Elita Chaffin (you may know her daughter, Molly Reeves, former chanteuse and leader of the Red Skunks).
